Cloud Atlas

Excuse me while my blog becomes a fandom for Cloud Atlas…

I just watched the movie, and now I want to read the book. It’s a great story about the interconnected-ness of our lives, and the constant forces that cause history to repeat itself. It also has inspiring themes about standing up for human rights against institutionalized malevolence (slavery, elder abuse, futuristic genetic engineering, and post apocalyptic cannibals).

Sci fi is great because it can transcend the pop culture of current events and explore themes in a disconnected realm.

Anyway, I highly recommend Cloud Atlas as a good watch/read. Albeit a little confusing at first, it’s well worth it.

And all becomes clear. Wish I could make you see this brightness. Don’t worry, all is well. All is so perfectly, damnably well. I understand now, that boundaries between noise and sound are conventions. All boundaries are conventions, waiting to be transcended. One may transcend any convention, if only one can first conceive of doing so. Moments like this, I can feel your heart beating as clearly as I feel my own, and I know that separation is an illusion. My life extends far beyond the limitations of me.

Long day at work. I’m really trying to reduce the waste and increase the recycling and compost we produce at our administration buildings
